So over the last weekend and a bit, I went to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It was funny, amazing, and exhausting. I thought I would share some of the best things I saw.
Katie Norris: Go West, Old Maid.
I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard in a long time. Was punchy and charming.
Jazz Emu: The Pleasure is All Yours
A musical showcase about learning to self-actualise, by the Jazz Emu himself. Very funny and some great stagecraft.
Austentatious: An Improvised Jane Austen Novel
It's amazing to watch them spin together a whole Regency play from just an audience-suggested title. My friends and I are still quoting lines from our show.
Can't watch Austentatious without thinking "top shagger Graham Dixon" and it's all Tom's fault.
The running joke about Antoni loving guacamole in Queer Eye for the Regency Guy is so good.
I need to get the other two shows available for download. Might get one in a few weeks when I'm properly in the new house. Something for the first night when I'm no doubt a bit overwhelmed...
Fun afternoon seeing Austentatious. Now we all sort of know what palisades are.
Just downloaded and watched my first Austentatious show (Queer Eye for the Regency Guy) after only seeing clips, and I can really recommend for fans of SFTH longforms. Plenty of silliness, a bit of naughtiness, and lots of kissing. Plus there's set dressing and costumes. And more than an hour long.
You can get their three full shows here: https://linktr.ee/austentatious
If you can't afford the £10 for a stream/download though, I still recommend watching the short clips on their Instagram @/austenimpro
ETA: I just realised I should maybe explain what it is...they do improvised plays in a Jane Austen/Regency style.
Calling all Jane Austen lovers,
I have 2 tickets for Austentatious in London for the 29th of september listed on ticketswap. If anyone's interested, dm me. They are front row tickets and the show is supposedly very fun. Bit of information about it: it's an improv performance that bases itself on Jane Austens novels and its promised to be hilarious.
