Chapter 13:

Chapter 14:

- I can barely focus here after the previous chapter, I really can't

Chapter 15:

- bruh

Mr. Woodhouse is surprised it's snowing hard?

Mr. John Knightley is all I told you so to Mr. Woodhouse

Mr. Weston is happy he manipulated Mr. Woodhouse

bro what in the high school drama is happening here

- WHAT. THE. HELL

- I'm going to pretend this didn't happen and move on, thank you very much.

Chapter 16:

- The cringe Emma must be feeling, god

- I also love how Emma is angry that Mr. Elton dared to propose to HER

Chapter 17:

- poor Harriet

- I'm also surprised at how amazingly Mr. Woodhouse manages to catastrophize even the smallest things. Like daumn, what a impressive overactive imagination, I see where Emma gets it from

Chapter 18:

- i totally believe Mr. Knightley. We've already known Emma's judgement towards people is not as good as she thinks it is. Also Mr. Knightley was right once before, and why would he be wrong again

(Also I'm guessing the ever present gentleman who seems nice, but is a hugeee dick in every Austen book seems to be Frank Churchill here)

- Though Emma does make REALLY good points, I'm almost convinced

- Also is chattering coxcomb the modern day equivalent of dumb bimbo??

- Wait. Is Mr. Knightley jealous? Is he afraid that a young gentleman who's related to Mrs. Weston might become a better fit for Emma than a thirty something dude?!?!

The new Emma. film is incredible! Such a good distillation of the novel’s tone and rhythm, and one of its best adaptatons for sure (though not as good as the bbc miniseries, which indeed has way more time to delve into the characters’ hearts). The music is great and the costumes and production value are stellar, but most of all it’s wonderfully fun without forgetting the story thematic core. And oh god the pining, the longing, the YEARNING in some scenes,, I honestly thought I was going to combust. Truly a fantastic film!
