"WHEN YOU'RE STRANGE"

In 1987 Austin's first @SXSW event attracted an unexpected number of music fans and the festival has taken on a life of it own. In the years since the city has increasingly become an arts mecca local and businesses have embraced its growing counter-culture identity, leading the Austin Independent Business Alliance in 2000 to adopt the slogan "Keep Austin Weird"—a sentiment so popular it has since been used by numerous other cities from coast to coast. When the @PowWowWorldwide arts movement teamed up with local art collective @SpraTX to expand the urban art offerings for SXSW in 2015 and 2016, native Austin graphic designer and artist Dave Lowell was invited to add this detailed 2016 stencil work on E 6th and Navasota Streets. @davelowell/
