Australia ask: how present/represented are Aboriginal folks in government/medicine/positions of power&influence in Australia today?
so rom what I do know they have elders, it’s a lot better than in the past, so from what I see they’re splintered into two groups. the traditionalists who just want to do their own thing and not really interfere with the way of things unless it affects them.then there are the
There there are those people in the community, who just like to cause trouble, and then dodge out of the way of it, citing it as discrimination etc.
But things are getting better for them, I mean the latter group they’e trying to get the government to make a national apology day” to apologize for what the ancestors (the british) don’t know if that’s a thing but that isn’t the apology , before a speech, the speaker acknowledges the traditional owners of the land, of both past present and future. and thanks them I think I don’t quite remember.
it’s just something that happens. THAT I am fine in regards to acknowledging the past and pay respect to the indigenous people, whose land we’re on. but being forced to apologize for things we had no part in directly, that’s as bad as getting the grandchildren of the overseers in the concentration camps. to come before the survivors. To be near forced to apologize to the survivors I don’t know I guess blaming a son for the sins of their father is just wrong to me.
But anyway getting back to what I was saying, it’s getting better, I am happy for them, I mean I’m interested to see what happens with an aboriginal prime minister and see where that leads. but yeah, they have a pretty interesting culture.
