Imitation of Life (2013), Mathias Poledna
Two and a half minute long animated short on 35mm film. 2D hand drawn animation with water colour backgrounds in the style of a Disney short from the 1940s. The score features a re-arrangement of I've Gotta Feelin' You're Foolin', a popular song from the 1930s written by Arthur Freed and Nacio Herb Brown.
This short is absolutely gorgeous and I hope to see it one day in a proper art space, the way it's meant to be viewed.
Some high quality stills from Imitation of Life (2013) by Mathias Poledna. This wonderful 2 and a half minute long animated short (first shown at the 2013 Venice Biennale) was made in the style of a Disney short from the 1940's. With hand drawn animation, water colour backgrounds and a catchy Broadway Melody song it could fool almost anyone into thinking this was actually made by Walt Disney Pictures!
