SA defeated Australia by 6 wickets in the first ODI of the 3 match series in Perth. Dale Steyn was Man of the Match (and received only a cap and a $500 donation on his behalf to Movember). The next game is in Adelaide on Friday, with the final game in Hobart next Sunday.

Faf (125) and Dave Miller (139) both scored centuries as SA reached 5/320 in Hobart in the deciding 3rd ODI. 

From ESPN:  They scored 130 from the last 10 overs and 75 from the last five overs. It was all due to Faf du Plessis and David Miller. From 3 for 55, they set new South Africa record for partnerships in ODIs against Australia. Faf made his 10th ODI hundred. David Miller his fifth, and his highest ODI score

SA won the 3rd ODI v Australia by 40 runs to win the series 2-1. David Miller was Man of the Match and Man of the Series.SA now plays a one-off T20 at the Gold Coast next Saturday.

‘Crass’ cricket cringe is out of control

IF YOU thought the players’ pact unveiled by Tim Paine and Josh Hazlewood a few days ago was as cringe-worthy as it gets for the Australian cricket team — you’re wrong.

Photos emerged of the inner sanctum and among the heavy splashes of gold are slogans that would have prompted even more ridicule had they been included in the players’ pact.

Phrases like “Make Australia proud” and “We are Australia’s cricket team” are plastered on the walls. But our favourite, hands down, is “Elite honesty”.

We’re not entirely sure how elite honesty differs from regular honesty, and neither is the Twittersphere. Cricket writers and commentators collectively shook their heads in disbelief at the latest effort by those in charge to make us forget seven months ago the Aussies were being condemned as a bunch of cheats and liars.

Who knew it would only take some elite honesty to get the public back on board.
