as the sun descended over the horizon, estella reached up and pushed the visor back into position. suddenly, her headlights looked a lot more stark on the road and the world seemed a lot quieter; even over the rumble of the engine of the minivan. looking across to the passenger seat, a small smile crept onto her lips. it had been totally spontaneous to leave in the early morning, waiting for vale outside her home and bundling her into the van with a steaming thermos of coffee and another of hot chocolate. several blankets had also been an addition. este couldn’t deny that they’d been spending more time together recently than she’d expected but in a way it was good... well... in lots of ways it was good... but it also meant that estella was getting much better at knowing when vale needed to be somewhere else. since that first night after the bar fight, este had found herself drawn to the younger woman and her sparky personality... the depth in her pretty eyes.
“spending all day with me again. what a nightmare for you...” estella said softly as she rolled her shoulders, letting one hand fall into her lap as the other kept the steering wheel steady. driving into the night with the other at her side... she never could have imagined it... especially after they’d spent the whole day together too; laughing, chatting, enjoying a well-deserved lunch after some gorgeous sightseeing. if it was what vale needed, este was quickly realising that she’d be there in a heartbeat if she could. showing her how to flip pancakes to perfection. dropping by after work just to check she wasn’t too in her head. sending her a text to not go too crazy because she was on shift and couldn’t punch anyone for her. maybe it was dumb of her to admit she cared... or maybe it was dumb to try and pretend like it didn’t make her feel vulnerable. “you can sleep if you’d like. although you might wanna save it for when you’re comfier at home...” @authatopia
