estella understood vale’s sentiment completely. she too had never entertained worrying other people for the sake of it and she definitely wouldn’t lord about her injuries, after all, they were more or less self-inflicted given her lifestyle. who would she talk about them to? who would worry enough about her? when estella came home after a long day or returned from a match it was only her voice and thoughts that echoed back at her. “no one needs to worry.” este said in the softest voice she could muster, bracing her forearms on her thighs as she leant forward to pluck up her glass of water from the table. vale didn’t need her tone of aggression... she was small and a few years her junior (she guessed) and getting angry and worked up wasn’t going to help either of them to get through this. glancing across at her, estella studied her frame for a moment. it was mostly hidden by blanket but she took in the shape of her face and the slightness of her features. but there was a strength there... este had heard it in the bite of her voice and although she was sure the younger woman couldn’t handle herself in aggressive situations... she was sure she could definitely give something.
“i didn’t really have a choice.” estella replied with a sigh as she rubbed her hand down her face. the adrenaline was subsiding now and she could feel tiredness seeping in. leaning back, she braced her head on the high and deep cushions. her eyes fell half shut and her chest rose and fell steadily. there was almost a tense peacefulness about it. “i look after most of my own injuries and i’m medically trained... i’m a firefighter.” the hand that had been on her face slipped back through her hair and she breathed in deep. “even i will vouch for medical marijuana every now and then... but i do believe in what i’ve learnt. you’ll be alright...” turning her head to the side, she looked at vale with a stern expression. “were you out by yourself tonight?” @authatopia
