For the writer ask! 4, 8, 9 and 15 ❤
Thank you so much for asking! All of these are great questions! <3
4) favorite character you’ve written
Oh that’s a tough one. For original characters, I would have to say Sam Ainsworth. She’s spunky and snarky, and it’s just a lot of fun to write for her.
For canon characters, the one and only Ignis Scientia. He has such a unique way of speaking and a lot of nuances to his proper personality, that make writing him always a joy!
8) favorite genre to write
Romance is most definitely my favorite genre to write. From the innocent fluff to the passionate love, it’s always a joy to create, no matter the couple. A close second though, would be angst. Especially, the wonderful combination of angsty romance!
9) what, if anything, do you do for inspiration?
It really depends on the situation and what sort of scene or story I need inspiration for. In general, reading a large array of books from varying authors helps a ton in the writing department. Everyone has a different style, and you can pick and choose which elements from other writers that you would like to try out and it’s incredibly inspiring.
I also love just listening to ambient music to help brainstorm. I’ll lay in bed with some headphones, close my eyes and just listen… and often times, my mind will start thinking of scenarios and scenes for my upcoming chapter or a whole new idea altogether!
15) why did you start writing?
My reasoning for writing started out a bit differently than most fellow writers I know. It was shortly after I had my first child. I was bedridden from having to go into an emergency surgery after labor and was fighting postpartum depression. Months went by before I was even able to start functioning normally again, and I had a new child to care for on top of it. To say the least, it was incredibly tough to work through and I can’t even begin to explain how stir crazy I became.
During that time, my husband suggested I take up writing. I wasn’t sure, because I hadn’t written anything for myself in literal years and wasn’t even sure what story I had to tell (even though I had one in mind, but had never felt confident enough to share it). He kept encouraging me with it and got me to explain my idea for a possible Kingdom Hearts Fanfiction, which he was in full support of, despite not really being into Kingdom Hearts. After about a month of his insisting, I decided to give it a go!
I wasn’t great at the beginning by any means, but once I began writing, it was like the floodgates were pried open. I was writing daily and I can honestly say that it helped me climb out of my postpartum depression and rediscover the joy of life again. When things get crazy, I can hop on my laptop and disappear into my own little written world for a few peaceful hours. So in short, I began writing upon my husband’s insistence. I continue writing, because it brings a wonderful unique joy to my life and it’s changed me for the better.
