SPOILERS FOR SUPERMAN (2025) AHEAD BELOW THE CUT!!!!!
OKAY SO. LET US TALK ABOUT ANGIE.
I was INHUMANLY excited that Angela was in this movie. I was surprised that the darker design didn't bother me as much as I thought it would - I miss her chrome look of course but I still liked the design.
I don't love that they changed her origin. Her putting the nanotech into herself and also her being more of a scientist than a secret agent would have been nicer to see, I don't like that they took away that agency. HOWEVER I do like that they showed her doubting her role more toward the end. The whole Superman movie had messaging about going against worldy authorities to do good - mainly in Clark ignoring borders etc. so he could save people. That is literally the core value of The Authority - they refuse to bow to worldly authorities or governments and prioritize their own authority and vigilantism.
I think seeing just how corrupt government and individuals with a lot of power like Luthor and then seeing Superman will be something that inspires Angie. She clearly was doubting her role in Luthor's plans by the end of the film and I think she will then go off on her own, heal herself with her tech and then either will be found by the other members of Authority, or I can even see her being in more of a founding position. Obviously Authority is Jenny Sparks' team, but in the comics Angie does take on some portion of leadership, especially after Jenny S. died and reincarnated into Jenny Q. I can see them give back that agency that was removed by changing her origin story, by making her a strenger force in founding Authority.
I don't think Angie was nessecary for the movie "Superman", at least not to the same degree as Ultraman or obviously Luthor. But I think Superman, the character, will be important as an Inspiration to Angie in future films. Gunn clearly was hoping to set up the Authority in his movie verse by including Angela.
