4: are you “out” to your family and friends?
Yes, mostly. I have some family from out of town that I almost never talk to that I haven’t told yet. I’m hesitating because I know some of them are a bit more, ah, conservative, but I really do need to tell them at some point.
5: are you “out” publicly?
Yes! My legal name and gender marker has been changed and I am fully out as a lesbian to the public (though I need to get like a flag pin or some double Venus earrings to make it more obvious lol).
18: how old were you when you got to attend your first Pride? Who did you go with?
I’ve actually never been to a Pride event! I really only figured myself out a few years ago, and 3 months after I came out publicly, COVID-19 happened and there weren’t really any events for a long time. I honestly don’t really have any desire to go to a Pride parade or anything though.
21: what message would you give to your younger self?
“Hey. Listen. Those feelings you have sometimes? About being weird and different from the other boys? Don’t push those feelings aside. Explore them further. They might take you to some scary places, but you’ll be better off if you understand yourself better. Don’t wait like I did.”
