80 what was the scene ?
So there’s this game called God of War, and it’s pretty much hailed as one of the goriest and violent games ever made. Now I love God of War, because of the characters, art, lore, and graphics (and I’m sorry to say I’m a morbid fan of brutal villain deaths and this game is chock full of it. Love a good revenge story. Also the opponents are really hard to beat. Can’t stand revenge movies cause it’s just one super powered dude against a bunch of unprofessionals 😑). But the game is also so gross (sexist, misognistic, gory, cruel, and racist ew) and the fans are gross and the fandom is so tiny, there are hardly any gifsets or fanart ugh.
Anyway, the game is about a man named Kratos (you play him) wronged by the Gods, so he goes on a quest to get his revenge (they killed his family). During the game you fight through many people mentioned in Greek Mythology, and one of them is Icarus, the boy who flew too close to the Sun.
In the game, he’s a young adult and he survived his fall, but he was disfigured and became mentally unstable in the process. Also instead of the sun causing his wings to melt off, they melted the wax and skin on his back enough to force the wings to become stuck on them 😳 So anyway, you need the wings to visit the Fates, but Icarus refuses to give them to you because he wants to see the Fates too. Then you get into a huge fight that ends up with Kratos and Icarus falling towards Tartarus (the place below the Underworld) and in the end you rip the wings out of his back and the whole cutscene was just really gross. Like you rip the wings out of his back and he knows what you’re doing and he, like tries desperately to say that maybe the Fates destined them to meet so they could work together (cause he knows he’s going to die and like how desperate and freaked out his cries were, it made me feel so bad. and then it got worse cause like. after you rip the wings out of his back, you see him fall into Tartarus and like the widescreen comparison of him, a young-middle aged man compared to Mythological doom-like expanse of Tartarus freefall was awful and freaked me the hell out. Especially with how he was screaming “No” and just screaming in general on the way down 😳
