What does your oc Astrid look like?

She’s is actually not my OC, they’re @decantae‘s (McH) OC!

Astrid’s face claim is Emily Rudd.

One thing you’ll learn about me is that all of my projects are cowritten with McH. For Wanderlust specifically — the WIP that Astrid is a main character of — @autofoebia (Frankie) writes for it as well. We each have our own individual OCs that we write for to create Wanderlust.

Specifically in Wanderlust’s main cast:

Aiden and Jess are my OCs

Astrid and Mal are McH’s OCs

King is Frankie’s OC.

18, 45 for the oc asks?

18. Any OC crackships?

Yes. The one, the only, Kaiden.

So @autofoebia‘s King, and my Aiden are two characters that would probably never ever be in a relationship. It’s just not going to happen in any canonical sense. Despite their tension, they can end up really good friends, but romantically? Nah.  However, those two have a lot of similarities, and that causes a lot of friction between them. Friction that is kinda sorta absolutely hilarious in a crackship form. It’s a rivalmance of sorts, where they hate that they are attracted to each other.

Again, never going to happen in canon. King is very smitten with his boyfriend Mal, and Aiden has always been in love with Astrid.

Have we written a lot about this crackship though?

100%.

45. A character you no longer use?

I have so many scrapped characters that will never see the light of day again for a various number of reasons. I think it all boils down to the fact that they were characters that were never properly fleshed out, thus I never really figured out who they were beyond a surface level and it never worked.

Acacia, Blair, Luca, Avery, Ashton, Aspen, Damien, Liam, Celosia, Raine... just to name a few.

Sorry for the late reply, I was chasing down @autofoebia and @decantae, my writing partners for Wanderlust to help me write this!

4) Imagine your OCs reacting towards staying overnight at an incredibly shady motel

(So @decantae was too busy to join us for this lil scene, so there are actually two missing characters: Astrid and Mal. Thanks so much to @autofoebia for writing their OC, King!)

“Is it too late to go back? I’d prefer lethal injection to sleeping on that bed.” King said, stringing one limp arm over Jess’ shoulder while the other adjusted under the weight of three different duffel bags. “All in favor of returning to the van say ‘aye’.”

“Aye—”

“Jess, you were the one that was complaining about sleeping in the van and not being able to shower,” Aiden sighed, fixing her with a flat stare. The days of nonstop travel had left their mark: The dark circles underneath his eyes were a testament to that. “I told you guys that we should’ve just settled for the haunted hotel we passed by a while back.”

“Again, lethal injection. Sounds much more peaceful.” King said as he dragged himself and Jess past the threshold into the room, “ghosts and I don’t mix, Philips. At least here all I’ve got to worry about is bed bugs and STDs.”

“You don’t need to worry about STDs if you’re not getting laid, King.” Jess kicked open the bathroom door and shuddered at the contents. “Look, I take it back okay? I can live with truck stop showers if this is the alternative, let’s just go and never come back.”

11) What happens when your OCs meet a hitchhiker?

So this actually happens within the story, so you’ll find out ;)

It involves mirrors, a guitar and gay boyfriends. Whether it’ll be a good experience or not remains to be seen...

12. Name an OC that isn’t yours but who you like a lot

I’m going to talk about the characters of the lovely @autofoebia for this one~

So they’re one of my writing partners for Wanderlust, and I am constantly in awe of their characters. Like, I’m so emotionally attached to them, I don’t know what I’d do without them.

I absolutely am in love with their OC King?? Like, I can’t tell if I want to smack him or hug him. (it’s probably, definitely the latter for the most part). The way that autofoebia writes him is so raw and real, there’s no way you can’t feel for him. Like, he’s kind of a dick but also that’s one of the ways he copes with a lot of things and it definitely tugs at my heartstrings. He’s definitely one of my favorite characters to discuss character relationships and headcanons with because he’s so dynamic.

Their character Glo is also fantastic. She’s so earnest and strong and such a force of nature that I can’t help but adore her. Glo is so down to earth and witty, I really wish that I could have a 3AM wild sleepover conversation with her because she’s so spunky, friendly, and I’d bet she’d have some insane stories to tell. I also really admire her strength and conviction; I firmly believe that she’s capable of pummeling anything that stands in her way.

Wow, I can’t tell if describing my own characters or describing someone else’s is more difficult. Hopefully I didn’t misrepresent them in any way!

40 for the OC questions! ♡

#40: Any fond memories linked to your characters? Feel free to share!

So I’ve talked a little bit about how my writing background started in roleplaying, and how I’ve been writing with a couple of friends. The cast of characters that I frequently mention and still write for as of now, are directly related to my friendships with @existentialmundanity, @autofoebia, and @inconsistentlyontime. We all met through writing, and it’s how we became friends.

There’s no any one specific moment really, but I’m pretty convinced that I don’t actually like writing, I just like talking to those three about our characters, their relationships, how they’re going to interact, all of the stupid headcanons we come up with that might eventually become canon… Those conversations in discord that I likely won’t remember the details of in the long run are some of my favorite memories involving my characters.

So whether it be the WIPs I share with them, or the PnPs I’ve done with them… They keep me invested in my characters, falling in love with their characters, and I know I wouldn’t be here, attempting to tell a story at all if it weren’t for them.

Hey, thanks for the questions @astaera-writes! I really love these ones! I’m going to answer for just Wanderlust, otherwise I’m going to be here all day.2) pick one sight, smell, sound, feel, and taste to describe the aesthetic of your novel

Sight: long, winding rural roads that never seem to end;Smell: those cliche pine air-fresheners that cars spontaneously spawn into existence when you’re not looking;Sound: zoning out in a group of friends and hearing their chatter, distantly and with no pressure to make sense of the words;Feel: a bumpy ride, off the beaten track, with lots of pot holes;Taste: energy drinks

4) what’s the time period and location in which the novel takes place?

It’s set in America, 2020! Wanderlust starts in Washington and (big surprise) crosses all over the place, highlighting different folks in different places and their varying reactions to magic.

5) What’s the first line of your novel?

The first line paragraph of Wanderlust was not actually written by me, but rather the lovely, wonderful, effervescent @autofoebia​, because it’s a collaborative project.

‘Lincoln Memorial High was a place where teenage hopes and dreams came to die. Not because it was a place of hard-ass teachers and impossible studies. Not because it had awful cliques and lunchroom drama, oh no, that would almost be interesting. No, Lincoln Memorial High was a killer of hope because it was just so boring.’

The first line paragraph I wrote with mine own two hands is: ‘Springtime wascrunch-time. The thaw brought with it surprise tests and looming deadlines,college applications and parental expectations, and just because Astrid Kingwas only a junior didn’t mean she was footloose and fancy free. Whenever shewas left alone with her thoughts, they would begin to buzz anxieties about thefuture in her ear.’
