Ren looked down at Beni, distressed and trying to assess the amount of damage he had sustained. He could only hope that he wouldn't hurt him if he moved the poor 'sparrow'. Collecting him as gentle as he could manage, he gave a soft shh in response to any pained movement. "Shh Beni.. I have you... I'm sorry I did not find you in time... I'm so very sorry... I'm going to get you medical attention now..okay? Please stay with me until then. I cannot tell how injured you are.."
Beni was shaking and just barely holding back tears. He’d learned during his time here as an experiment that crying only made things worse. While he could remember Ren as a friendly face, he was still scared at the initial contact. He’d pushed away from him until he finally allowed Ren to collect him. He was still injured in various places, blood dripping from said injuries. It hurt— worse than anything Beni had ever experienced, and he wanted to close his eyes and just not feel it anymore. He wanted the pain to go away, for these past few months to be forgotten. But Ren wanted him to stay conscious. He fought the urge to drift out, for Ren’s sake more than his own. He was gripping onto Ren too tightly, somewhere in the back of his mind he knew that.
It was only when they got outside of that horrible place Beni had been held captive in for months that it hit him. This was real, Ren was real, he was being taken away from that place, from those people who hurt him. He couldn’t hold back his tears anymore. He was finally free from that. He wanted to thank Ren, but his throat hurt too much to speak, it hurt enough to make noise as he sobbed. The crying hurt his head, and he was beginning to see more black spots in his vision than before, but now he almost wanted to stay awake. He wanted to live his life again.

( Now, I can understand that, that's a reasonable thing to get upset about. I hate when Ren's excluded from sets, AS WELL AS when Mink's already excluded and it's titled the boyfriend squad-- And I'm sure there are some who get upset when Virus and Trip are excluded at any given point, whereas it wouldn't bother me in the slightest.
It is an issue that needs mending, but there's only so much that can be done when the fandom is more focused on the bunny and the robot-- At least, from what I tend to see most often, as those two are the least likely to be left out of any group set. Which, it's not bad of you to love them, they can be your favorite boys! It's just aggravating seeing them more than the other boys in general. )
