Autotroph (noun) – organisms that produce their own food
As we pass the winter solstice, we aren’t the only creatures appreciating the return of longer days. Autotrophs are organisms that produce their own food. Photoautotrophs, which include all plants, green algae, and some bacteria, create their food using sunlight through a process called photosynthesis. (Chemoautotrophs, another type of autotroph, use inorganic chemical processes to create energy, and include some bacteria and organisms around deep sea vents). Without autotrophs, no other life would exist. Heterotrophs, like us, depend on other organisms to live. The return of sunlight, in this sense, is the return of life. _______ NPS Photo of sunlight through Devil’s Club leaves, 8/16/17. Description: Sunlight illuminates the structure of large palmate green leaves with toothed edges.
Sooo...do you win by default if the competition gets eaten?
Part of my Biology project. Our teacher gave us animals with descriptions and we were supposed to draw them. I got a fuzzy hamster with green hair because it's an autotroph.
Although its genus name is the Phodopus Viridus, I'm just gonna call him Phil.
If you missed our "cancelled biology reality show" series last week, here are all the comics on one graphic! ( ゚ヮ゚)
