Avalon Mitchell
Cadence ‘Avalon’ Lilly Mitchell is a fictional major character in the Power Rangers franchise, played by actress Emily Rudd. Avalon is known as the original Orange Ranger from the second entry of the franchise, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. She later becomes the Orange Ranger in Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo, and Power Rangers Dino Thunder.
Starting her tenure in season 2 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Avalon is a gang member from Sydney, Australia, who eventually moves to the fictional town of Angel Grove, California with her sister, Bailey, after a mix-up when their father sends them to the US to stay with an Aunt. She doesn’t have any friends but quickly falls into the street gang the Vipers, after they give her an offer she can’t refuse, thus starting her few years of turmoil at working to protect her sister and keep them afloat. She meets the power rangers, Jason Lee Scott, Zack Taylor, Billy Cranston, Trini Kwan, Kimberly Hart, and Tommy Oliver at Angel Grove High School. Despite her ties with the gang, Zordon and Alpha deem her worthy of the Power Ranger power and she becomes the Orange Power Ranger and is given the Dinozord Power Coin of the Stegosaurus and obtains the Stegosaurus Dinozord. She joins the Rangers into many battles against Rita's monsters to protect Angel Grove.
At first glance, Avalon appears to be sarcastic, standoffish and cold, giving the rangers taunting nicknames to get under their skin, working to keep them at a distance primarily to keep them out of her business while also working to keep them and Bailey safe. Beneath the surface, however, she is big-hearted and always willing to help someone out when it is needed, and very protective of her sister. She doesn’t know martial arts; primarily focusing on her street smarts, powerful punches, and bravery to help her in a fight. She is an accomplished athlete in surfing and volleyball, and is a certified lifeguard.
Bailey Mitchell
Abigail ‘Bailey’ Rose Mitchell is a fictional major character in the Power Rangers franchise, played by actress India Eisley. Bailey is known as the original Purple Ranger from the second entry of the franchise, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. She later becomes the Purple Ranger in Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue, Power Rangers Ninja Storm, Power Rangers Dino Thunder, and Power Rangers Samurai/Super Samurai.
Starting her tenure in season 2 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Bailey is Avalon’s little sister from Sydney, Australia, who eventually moves to the fictional town of Angel Grove, California with Avalon after a mix-up when their father sends them to the US to stay with an Aunt. She doesn’t have any friends due to her intelligence and interests, often alienating her from other kids her age and becoming a target of bullying. She meets the power rangers, Jason Lee Scott, Zack Taylor, Billy Cranston, Trini Kwan, Kimberly Hart, and Tommy Oliver through her sister, Avalon, quickly forging a close bond with Tommy and quickly after meets and befriends her classmate, Fred Kelman. She becomes a ranger once the Ankylosaurus DinoZord Power Coin, which anyone can handle, selects her to become the Purple Power Ranger and obtains the Ankylosaurus Dinozord. She joins the Rangers as the youngest ranger.
Unlike her sister, Bailey is vibrant, outgoing, friendly, and excited to become friends with the rangers. She grows a bond with Tommy upon first meeting him and also connects with Billy with their intelligence, quickly growing a crush on him. Despite being the younger sister, Bailey often works to keep Avalon safe, often trying to keep her from meeting the Vipers and work together with the rangers saying, “It’ll be good for you”. She learns martial arts from Tommy but also relies on her intelligence to help her in a fight. She is an accomplished athlete in swimming and rock climbing, and is has won numerous awards in science, math, and technology.
