Beach Day 2

It was a short distance to the beach, passing a great coffee shop on the way. (We decided to cycle rather than walk as it was so hot.) It has been difficult to find good coffee shops so this was a treat. Despite it being hot outside, we stopped to enjoy a cappuccino. This was to become our regular coffee stop while we were in the Outer Banks. I loved the atmosphere, all the art and unique cards and gifts on offer.

We spent the day sunbathing and enjoying the ocean. I only ventured for a paddle as the strength of the waves was so powerful and almost knocked Richard of his feet. He did go for a swim, but found that he was swimming one way, but the force of the water was making it difficult to actually move any distance forward. The power of the waves was something that I hadn't experienced before which made me vary cautious about going in for anything other than a paddle.

It was beautiful to just sit and enjoy watching the waves.

Early afternoon saw us get on our bikes and cycle down to the Avalon fishing pier. There we found a pretty empty bar with a great view It was a perfect spot for food, drink and to watch the waves crash around the pier.
