Cleaning time with Miska the panther and @alphaling
Okay but their cat is literally a full grown black panther so...
I didn't think Homunculus could reproduce, do you have a story for that or is it just an au thing?
Oh yes neither of them are Ling and Avara’s biological children. Zhen was appropriated from an M!A where an anon left her with them for a week, and Avara just kept her, and Erzi was adopted as well though I have not plotted out the details with moon (whataroyalpain) yet. They’re both mostly ordinary human children apart from the fact their being raised by an incarnation of avarice and a former emperor (who’s been training his daughter in martial arts and the dao sword for years at this point) xD))
any info on the new baby?
Just like when Zhen was called Ah Niu (little girl), he’s called Erzi right now which means ‘son’ (I tried to look up little boy but I couldn’t find anything). He’s around the age that Zhen was when they go her, so close to four years old, and he’s of Xingese descent, with dark hair and eyes.
Also for anyone considering Zhen, she’s close to 13 now and enrolled in school (everyone got aged up when I wrote a drabble for Valentines Day earlier this year). ^-^))
He was planning on having a nap I believe, but found himself with 600lbs of cuddles instead.
Ring in the New Year
“What are these?”
The girl’s eyes were bright with curiosity and excitement, and her enthusiasm brought a smile to the Lady’s face as they began their preparations in the empty field that made up the back of their apartment building’s property. The land back there was flat and the grass was short, the perfect area for this sort of thing.
“These are called fireworks.”
Ling came up on them, feet not making a sound. Yet the girl was unsurprised, he’d already trained her to read the dragons pulse.
“These were invented a long time ago in Xing, and they make really great light display that’s used on the eve of the new year.”
The girl clasped her hands together, bright face and green eyes filled with wonder at the amazing things her papa was telling her. For a while she trailed after him, watching the stands and canisters and various other things as they were set up, all the while asking questions and becoming even more enthralled with each answer and explanation. This was all a welcome distraction, allowing for Avara and Miska to set up blankets both to sit on and spread out food she’d prepared for the evening.
Of all the animals in their menagerie, only Miska and their two spirit guardians were allowed to attend this event. The noise and lights of the fireworks deemed too much for the other animals to handle, and in addition to that, there were some foods she’d prepared that Avara didn’t want the menagerie getting into.
The spread was a lavish one as well, she’d made several dishes that were typically reserved for the Xingese new year, with the excuse that a new year was a new year regardless of the date. Of course, she’d most likely make them again when the other new year came around.
The girl came running back to her mama and ‘big sis’ just as they finished their own preparations and settled in, throwing herself into the woman’s lap with reckless abandon and ecstatic giggles, nearly taking the wind out of Avara. She was quickly caught up in the Lady’s arms, cuddled close as the woman arranged the girl on her lap just as Ling lit a long match and ran down the line, using his incredible speed to light every fuse in quick succession. Before the first one had fired he was on the blanket with Avara, pulling her close to him and moving Zhen over to share both of their laps as Miska lay a short distance away, occasionally rolling in the grass and using the ground to scratch her back.
BOOM!!
The first round exploded in a dazzling display of lights and colors and deafening noise. Zhen squealed in a startled delight, her little arms, unsure of who to turn to, slapped the tops of both of their legs in reaction to the sound and she kicked her feet, auburn curls swishing about her head in giddy delight.
Soon the others were exploding in the air, adding even more colors and patterns to the bright and beautiful show. Avara leaned in, resting her head in the crook of her Alpha’s neck and feeling him nuzzle against her hair while Zhen squirmed against them. A glance told her that he already had a read bean paste bun in his hand and had probably eaten a couple before that.
This one though, remained in his hand, the other sliding up to her cheek as he turned her face toward him and leaned in.
Just as the final display erupted in a cacophony of noise and color and brilliance, Ling pressed his lips to hers, the two of them lost in each other as Zhen was distracted by the lights, filled with her own sense of joy. Later on, when she was finally put to bed, the two of them would have a more private celebration, but for now, their lips reluctantly parted and they took just a little extra time to gaze at each other, and share a happy smile between them.
“Happy New Years my love.” He whispered, and she replied
“And you, my darling..”
The Lady, sitting with her breakfast and watching several large animals and one small child roughhousing in the living room.
