Hungry Like the Wolf | Ava&Pierce
Pierce had not had a chance to spend too much time wandering around the marketplace. His bookshop had taken off rather well, which meant he needed to spend a lot of time inside, helping his customers and ringing up their purchases. Not that he minded – in fact, he was rather proud. He had not expected so many to be interested in books during a time of war. But many people wanted an escape, he supposed. The faerie did not blame them.
The market around him was bustling, reminding him of the ball that had occurred not 2 days ago. Everyone was laughing, talking. The stall owners were shouting out to customers, trying to sell their wares, and Pierce had everything from fresh bread to expensive trinkets shoved into his face. The air was heavy with spices the faerie could not name, yet was familiar with, had the pleasure of tasting on his tongue before. Even the weather had permitted him to have a good mood, the sun out but a light breeze keeping everyone cool. Possibly a little too cool, as if nature was reminding them that winter was coming, but nothing could be perfect.
Though everyone was trying to sell him something, or knocking against his thin frame with a purpose of being somewhere else, Pierce had another mission. He had organised a meeting with a werewolf he had encountered a while back, Ava. The faerie had been surprised with just how well they had gotten along, and was excited to be seeing her again, especially here. He had hoped that the market place was not too loud for her senses, too noisy, but she must have been here before. And since it was a Monday, a day he did not permit himself to work since customers were few, mostly because they had gone to work, Pierce thought it would be a perfect time to see what the little town he lived in was all about. And what better way to do that than to do it with a new friend. Here, at the heart of the little town, rubbing shoulders with all different kinds of people, Pierce felt as if he could maybe start calling this place home. Maybe.
Though rather tall, there were many much taller, and Pierce craned his neck upwards to see if he could spot the werewolf, but to no luck. He just hoped she would find him first.
