Dear Avatar Fandom Community,
After careful consideration, I've made the decision to step back from the Avatar fandom. While I have cherished the friendships formed and the positive experiences gained, I cannot ignore the increasing toxicity, harassment, and bullying within the community. It is disheartening to witness the lack of respect for boundaries and common decency towards fellow enthusiasts, leading to the departure of valued friends.
Fandoms, by their essence, should be a refuge for escapism, a place of welcome and safety for creators to share their artistic expressions. Unfortunately, the current atmosphere has become untenable for many writers and artists who face harassment and boundary violations, resulting in exhaustion from defending their creative spaces.
I firmly believe that politics should not overshadow the primary purpose of fandoms. These spaces were intended to offer solace and camaraderie, not to serve as battlegrounds for divisive issues. It is particularly concerning to witness minors disregarding explicit content warnings and invading the spaces designated for mature audiences, causing unnecessary discomfort for both creators and themselves.
I emphasize the importance of maintaining a respectful environment for all creators. Minors should be guided to content suitable for their age group, and the disregard for boundaries, especially in 18+ spaces, is a distressing trend that needs immediate attention.
While acknowledging that every fandom has its challenges, the Avatar community seems to be tolerating too much negativity, causing genuine harm to individuals. I have decided to redirect my focus to other beloved fandoms, with the hope that the Avatar community will learn from its current challenges and mature over time.
Despite my decision to step back, I will keep my works for this fandom accessible. I believe it is unfair to penalize the well-intentioned individuals within the community due to the actions of a few. However, I must express my concern regarding potential misuse of my creations, such as unauthorized copying and selling.
To reiterate, my pages and works are strictly for individuals aged 18 and above. Minors found on my pages will be removed, and repeated violations will result in blocking. Ageless accounts are required to verify their age through message requests or face removal from my page.
In light of recent events, I am taking a hiatus from posting fanfiction to process the departure of a close friend who felt compelled to leave the community for their safety. I am genuinely upset by their experiences within the fandom, and my thoughts are with them and their mutuals.
For those close to me, I remain accessible via text messages and will continue to support your artistic endeavors. Thank you for the positive moments shared, and I hope for positive changes within the Avatar fandom.
