So I've created a Discord Server for the Avatar (Cameron) fandom! 👀 People that read and write fanfic, do fanart and anything else you can imagine that's not strictly canon! A place to talk about ships, theories etc.
Please be 18+ and familiar with standard fandom behavior to join. Ship and let ship 🚢 and so on. I've opened the server to the majority of Avatar ships because I feel like I can barely find writers and other fans to chat with. Somehow we're a small fandom when it comes to fanfic 😭
You can join HERE 🙂
Check out the Eywa's Children community on Discord - hang out with 4 other members and enjoy free voice and text chat.

Okay, so apparently according to the Avatar Filmes account, at the D23 convention, Avatar 4 and 5 were not included among Disney’s announced release dates through 2029, which has people speculating that they’ve either been delayed again or possibly even shelved.
And honestly… I’m confused by that.
Because if Disney were actually losing faith in Avatar as a franchise, why would they still be investing in a brand-new Avatar attraction at the parks? Why would they continue developing and promoting the franchise at D23? And why would Avatar have its own booth if Disney supposedly had no plans to continue with the movies?
I could understand the argument if we were talking about one random ride that had already been in development for years and Disney was simply finishing it. But a whole new attraction requires planning, development, money, marketing, and a long-term commitment to the IP.
And then there’s the fact that Avatar had its own presence at D23. That doesn’t exactly scream “we’re quietly shelving this franchise.” 😭
Obviously, until Disney or James Cameron’s team officially says something, I’m taking the “Avatar 4 & 5 have been shelved” claims with a massive grain of salt. Not having release dates announced through 2029 is definitely worth noticing, but that doesn’t automatically mean the movies are cancelled.
If anything, the continued investment in Avatar outside of the movies makes the situation even more confusing. Why would Disney continue building the Avatar brand in the parks and giving it a dedicated presence at D23 if they were planning to completely abandon the franchise?
Something about this just isn’t adding up to me.
I’m not saying Avatar 4 and 5 definitely AREN’T delayed. They very well could be. I’m just saying that “they weren’t listed in the release schedule, therefore they’ve been shelved” feels like a pretty big leap without an actual announcement from Disney or the filmmakers.
Anyway… I guess we’re back to waiting for someone to actually tell us what the hell is going on with these movies. 💀
