a/n: made this a year ago on tiktok, and ppl found it to be rlly imagineable and acccurate, so i thought i should upload it on tumblr! i remember this was SOO fun to make, + i thought it was perf since afaa just came out bcos as always.. i love and miss neteyam sm.
1. neteyam definitely loves cutting up fruits / vegetables for his little siblings. he actually likes taking on the role of neytiri sometimes when he's at home, whereas taking on the role of jake is reserved more for warrior duties.
2. hated the fact that they had to leave their home in the forest at first. he never said it before until he finally says "i want to go home' before the life fades from his eyes. he just wants to protect his clan and shroud them in safety, as much as for himself:(
3. speaking of his compliancy, he wouldn't dare question his father's orders so he accepted leaving the clan at first and stayed quiet about his feelings. after all those years of hard work, training since birth to be the future olo'eyktan, to later abandon that was like a gun shot to his heart (pun intended). but he would never express that
4. whenever he unwraps food during yerik (hexapede) hunts, he always folds the wrapper nearly before discarding it. (he's just a neat boi)
5. speaking of neat, his room / side of the tent is always the neatest out of all of his siblings. maybe even more than his parents. he never has things laying out in the open without a purpose. he believes in 'clear space = clear mind' and he desperately seeks out a clear mind when it can be afforded.
6. he sharpens his knife as a way to calm down whenever he's feeling tense. whether it be at communal bonfires before a long day the next day, or when he's on breaks during hints and he finds a log to rest on.
7. he saves emerging adulthood girls from being unwarrantedly hit on by other guys in the clan. that only makes him more attractive. he's had to ward off some of the girls' eventually offers of something more with him because he has yet to find time to fall in love. speaking of girls, he has a ton of them by his feet. though he has never let that get to his head. he does charmingly handle the attention though.
8. part of the reason for neteyam's all-roundedness is because he actually has a gnawing fear of failure. the constant anxiety ache of not meeting his parent's expectations chest pressurises him to excel, also forcing him not to show emotion sometimes. he appears fearless because of this, but really he's not. he's just brave and can't afford to lose anything, especially not to his own fears. (also why he rarely opens up).
9. reads english books bookmarked by norm because he likes to challenge himself with the foreign language. (#educatedbih)
10. he brings lo'ak on walks at the beach or, in omatikaya, flights on their ikrans whenever he thinks his little brother is down and needs someone to support him. neteyam would sometimes abandon his duties just for this and for that reason, this makes lo'ak neteyam's weakness and undoing (canonically proven).
11. neteyam wishes he had more time to be a child in his childhood. he unexpectedly indulged in the weightlessness he had when he removed his warrior fits in awat and went on many swims in the ocean with the ilus often. he's visited 3 brothers rocks so many times with his friends as long as he was keeping an eye on his siblings at the whole time.
