remastering an old post (which ive since privated) because it still gets interactions sometimes and i just wanted to finally remaster it since it has a ship on it that i dont approve of at all now :')

pretty obvious but it was max x janet... i used to think janet was an adult, which is why i shipped it, but since i found out shes only 16, i dont support it anymore since max is an adult.

anyway, like the old post, ive included some waffling about headcanons and whatnot under the cut so feel free to read! or dont. i dont care

ships i loved at first sight

fang x lawrie: auuughhhhhhhh this one. This one. ough. i dont think about it very often... but when i do? ouuuuuuuu its good. its Good. i will shamelessly admit i only ship this for sexual purposes but Man oh man. their sexual dynamic... it goes Hard. innuendo intended.

byron x grey and bo x kenji: these two pairs come as a set because as you mightve noticed theyre all in their starrforce skins. this is intentional. i have this whole plot in my head of byron x grey as the evil villain couple and bo x kenji as the good protagonist couple but also kenji and grey being exes and byron being the person who was there for grey at his lowest. and even though hes an awful influence and is like insanely evil he still treats grey better than kenji did because they were former starrforce partners and kenji had always put their mission first, eventually prioritising it over grey... anyway yea very cool awesome angsty relationship drama happening in space over here and i love these ships very much!

cord x angelo: the sillies. i remember when angelo came out, i have no idea why but my first idea of a ship for him was cord - it just sorta made sense? guy who works with nature x literal bug. admittedly cord is a mycologist and mosquitos dont exactly have much to do with mushrooms but like I dont care their colour palettes look good together.

colette x fang: i think they would be more similar than people tend to think, mainly because i think fang would enjoy creative endeavours more than people think. he loves doodling - from all the costume sketches in the promo art for his make campaign to all the post it notes scattered across his closet and the faint drawings on his bed frame... (i love promo art of his bedroom btw! theres only two ever and they have my heart) so i think he would be very interested and supportive in colette's journalling/scrapbooking. and also i just think theyre both very passionate people who would love to yap each others ears off about their interests. and fang would always be down to help carry out colettes insane plans to get a single thorn from spike <3

fang x crow: to me this is prime "guy who thinks hes cool" x "guy who is actually cool". fang thinks crow is the coolest guy EVER and crow thinks fang is a pain in the ass who wont leave him alone. but despite his tough guy persona, crow still instinctively helps fang in a moment of need, and fang just gets even more smitten... and crow gradually grows fond of him too (despite denying it in himself)

max x melodie: okay so like. i think fang, melodie and max are all childhood friends. theyre all speedsters, in a way. and in my more canon-compliant headcanons, fang usually grows apart from them due to max and mel becoming famous figureheads in starr park while fang, though he dreams of it, never does. but anyway. mel is highly demanding and impatient and max is effectively the only person who can really keep up with her, due to a combination of knowing her since they were kids and just inherently being similarly fast-paced and impatient.

ship i want to become canon the most

alli x willow: it has the highest chance of becoming canon, and a canon lesbian ship would be awesome. plus i headcanon willow as aroace and i think that adds an extra dimension to their relationship that would be so so interesting to explore (in a fanfic, because spc never will lol). like just the idea of willow liking alli but also not feeling the typical butterflies and whatnot and wondering if she really likes alli or if she doesnt and is leading alli on... god the internal turmoil would be sooooo interesting. and the final realisation that even if she doesnt feel love in a typical way, alli is still a special person to her..!!!! just. Yea this ship rules

fang x buster: you mightve noticed the prominence of fang on this chart. that is because fang is my favourite guy Ever. i told a friend that hermes is my favourite god in hades 2 and you know what he said to me? he said "bro thats literally fang". and then i looked at him and i was like Aw shit. it really is. i cant even defend myself. i have a type. it's fang. and i Love putting him with buster. in any situation. in any AU. every time i think about anything couple related i think of fang and buster because my mind just ends up inserting them into the scenario or situation. i will admit i am a bit of an ass towards buster because i do pick favourites actually and my favourite is very obviously fang. (i dyed my hair purple just for him!) but i do love buster too. he is a sweetheart. and a bit less of a loser than fang is. just a bit. (for the record, i love losers. and fang is the biggest loser ever)

ship that deserves more attention

amber x maisie: this is a bit of a self callout on my end because god i really dont treat maisie how i should. i feel like im always neglecting her since fang and buster are my favourites in the trio... but she is an amazing character as well who can be explored in so many different ways and 2 yrs on, i still love pairing her with amber. just the idea of clumsy and reckless pyrotechnic x cautious and measured safety manager who secretly enjoys danger... its so good. maisie having fears about danger due to the accident which caused her to lose her arm, and amber helping her loosen up a bit and allow her to satisfy that itch of wanting to experience recklessness and danger. maisie also helping amber learn to be less clumsy and the precautions she should take to prevent accidents, so that they both can have a good time playing with fire (literally!)

tara x piper: my ogs... i still love them. i dont even know how long its been since i started shipping them... 5 yrs? maybe 6? dont know and dont particularly care. what i care about is their perfect dynamic of mysterious and potentially dangerous person who nobody understands x outwardly warm and kind person whos the only one who understands... and also the only one whos secretly even more dangerous <3 thats also why i love misfortune x mariposa. just the best dynamic everrrrr

I got in a fight w my bf about this, but I'm like super annoyed with people seeing 7 of 9 as just a sexy character. Like we know she was added to the show because of sex appeal, so yeah obvs thats a thing. BUT what bothers me is it feels like a classic example of people seeing character traits theyre okaay with in male characters but hating it in female characters.

When she was introduced she wasnt shown as sexy, but she was shown kinda seeming like a bitch. And even after she was introduced at the beginning of her arch I'm pretty sure if it WASNT for the sex appeal people would just think that shes a bitch.

Which like... Data is probably one of people's favourite overall Star Trek character. Its pretty safe to safe that Data and 7 have a lot in common with how they act, how they call out their captains, their bluntness, and how a lot of the jokes about them are "oh haha they dont understand human interactions"

But when we meet Data we dont consider him an asshole or anything. Because guy characters like that are what we're used to seeing. But we see 7 of 9 disagree with Janeway because she can calculate the outcomes better, and its easy to think 7 of 9 is automatically in the wrong. But Data can pull off the same thing and we're like "well obviously he's right he knows basically everything" while its harder for people to see that in 7.

And like yeah, she didnt have to wear the cat suit, but we also saw that her character seemed to take things at face value and not really care. The Doctor gave a reason as to why she needs to wear a cat suit when he sexified her, its not unrealistic to think 7 was like "okay I'll wear this" and didnt think much about it until later in the series when she seemed to start actually thinking about how she looked.

She wasnt the first character to be awkward and exploting her humanity/her sexuality but shes the first female character to do so and I think a lot of people just see her as a sexy character first and use that to ignore her actual character
