usually i see it coming though! fannishness is weird, sometimes it just sort of…appears…and you’re like wait when did this story settle into my head like this? what just happened.

that is true! that's what happened to me with XFC two years ago. anyway, yeah, I just felt weird about my reaction to PR because it seemed like everybody I know is super super into it.

actually, that is precisely how i felt when i saw the movie. liked it but not fannish! and then over the next two days i kept thinking about it and looking up fanfic & fanart and i had ALL THE FEELS and i don’t entirely know what happened. ???

well, obvs what happened is that it stuck with you! and I'm not sure that it won't do the same to me later, I dunno. do we really get to choose what grabs us?

oh my god i do this. i forgot to eat. then i feel weird and don’t WANT to eat but i feel sick because i haven’t eaten and it’s this whole stupid cycle of….stupid. and hypoglycemic.

I AM SO GLAD IT'S NOT JUST ME. not glad that you go through it too obvs, but it makes me feel marginally less like a loser.

i know this feeling well! hmm. instead of thinking “oh god so much to finish", would it help if you documented progress instead? X amount of words written, or something…? might help you feel like you’re accomplishing manageable goals.

I think that's what I'm going to do. I've just been really depressed again recently, and I tend to get in a "depressed/anxious" ---> "unmotivated/lazy because depressed" ---> "even more depressed/anxious because of lack of productivity" kind of cycle that starts to be really hard to break out of. I've been better in recent years and I've developed some coping mechanisms, but every now and then I still just have a severe funk that I have a hard time recovering from. The good news is, I guess, that I'm no longer at the stage where even coming up with manageable goals isn't a manageable goal for me. Now I'm just trying to figure out what I can handle every day that isn't going to stress me out even more than my recent lack of productivity has been. :)
