You knew right away when you met Jaehyun, he was the one
Something about the way he sneezed into his elbow the way your mom taught you (and apparently his taught him) and the way he laughed and the way his smile slowly warmed up like a sunrise just for you
You didn’t waste any time telling him how much you cared about him. You were the type to say “I love you” every time you felt it, which was pretty much always
Just in case he forgot :)
When you were sitting down with quiet and coffee in the morning, and he’d bring both of your mugs back for a second cup. When he’d pass you the full mug and press his lips to the top of your head, you’d mumble “love you”. You especially loved his bright smile afterwards
When you’d have a tough time peeling your stupid orange, and his long fingers would pluck it from your hands, quickly finishing the job. “I love you,” you’d whisper, pressing a kiss to his cheek
When you’d wake up in the mornings, your side of the bed pristine, while jaehyun’s looked like he’d lost a wrestling match with the sheets. And jae would double back to straighten them out the way you liked it, before you could remember to do it yourself. He’d smile and say “beat you to it.” And you’d smile back, feeling just a little drunk on that beaming grin, “I love you a lot.”
Jaehyun knew everything about you, and did so many little things for you
He always knew exactly how much milk you liked in your coffee
He knew exactly where to kiss your neck to have you giggling from tickles, or to have you tackle him on the nearest available surface
He knew your favorite songs, and would instantly turn up the volume in the car so you’d dance around and make a fool of yourself in the passenger seat
He knew you got embarrassed and flustered about big gifts, so he made sure to get you little things here and there (and never ever told you the price)
He knew when your frown meant you probably needed the subtitles on for your tv show (the stupid audio always had loud explosions and whispering dialogue)
You appreciated him endlessly, and did your best to make sure he never forgot it
Whenever he went away on tour, you’d cook a huge dinner—all his favorites—just in time for him to get back home. Of course, you’d spend twice as long eating because you got distracted watching him in person again.
After dinner, he hauled his bags to the bedroom and you got started on dishes
You didn’t even mind doing them, but your hands always got so freaking dry in the winter, especially because you loved to cook and bake. And with jae gone, you’d been doing all the dishes too.
You suppose you could have gotten dish gloves. But that would’ve been the smart thing to do lol
You cursed as the soap stung one of your cuts, shaking the finger under running water before you went back to washing
Before you could finish more than the pot lid, two warm hands slid over yours, taking the sponge away. Lips brushed your ear, “I got it.”
You turned in his arms and yanked him down into a kiss, both of you ignoring the soap suds on your fingers
Because all of those moments were really jae saying “I love you”
