what bothers me about this online community is the way people are unquestioningly referring to a deeply flawed model of human psychology, based on & reinforcing purity culture, clearly showing a failure of comprehensive sex education, ignoring the vast spectrum of sexuality by instead constructing an arbitrary line where the sexual spectrum becomes the asexual spectrum and sexual experiences are instead branded asexual and then encouraged and validated on the basis of having their sexuality denied
that got really rambling and run-on but the point is, we need to be concentrating on a better understanding of the diverse range of human relationships towards sexuality. not just sexual orientation. sexuality.
and this is a queer issue because queer people are specifically targeted by the thought processes that encourage absexual taboos and sex-negative cultural norms.
not because it’s some kind of alphabet fight. which, ftr, is increasingly tangential to what i see as being the problem.
