❀ The sound of the Saber’s shoes was rather noisy on the sidewalk as she walked in the silence of the night. There was no one else in plain view, and her footsteps seemed to be the only ones around. Stopping in the middle of the sidewalk, Arturia paused for a moment to take a look at her surroundings. Around her were empty benches, large patches of well-kept grass, and the occasional tree or bush.
She found herself back at the park she had been previously summoned at. Truly, it was one of the few locations she knew of. Every noise seemed to make her jump, and her grip on her sword to tighten. Letting out a sigh, she walked over to one of the nearby benches, sitting down for a moment to clear her mind.
“I’m sorry Master... I have to prove this, for myself and for you.” Her voice was rather quiet, speaking to herself more than anything else. How was she to know that she was truly capable of being as useful of a servant as she could be, being on the same team as her older self? There was something discouraging about it. No matter how much energy or effort she put into things, her skill would always be outmatched. So, she would have to make up for it with victories for her Master.
That was the reason why she had snuck out of her Master’s house this night. She hadn’t meant to directly disobey him... She just wanted to get them ahead in this war, to make herself an important Servant. Lily had no doubt a servant was nearby. She had felt the mana output from a distance, and had managed to track it down to this general location. Her only concern was in finding where exactly this other servant was, and challenging them.
Standing back up, Arturia continued her walk down the path. She partially hoped the other servant would show themself--Maybe they were looking for a challenge just as she was. After a long stretch of silence, save for her own heels clicking on the pavement, she stopped in the middle of the path once more. Slamming her sword onto the ground, she did her best to draw the attention of anyone that might have been nearby.
“I ask of anyone here, show yourself! I come with a challenge to duel, if you should wish to accept it.” She didn’t know who she was challenging, if they were even listening to her. All she could hope was that she hadn’t just picked a fight with the strongest servant in this war. ❀
