Had a bit of a traumatic television-watching experience tonight. The episode of Friends where Ross and Rachel drunkenly marry in Las Vegas was on Nick at Nite while I was making/eating dinner, and when we see the newlyweds drunkenly exit the chapel, I suddenly had the unbidden thought “I’d like to get married in a little chapel in Vegas, sober.”

In that moment, it seemed cool, exciting, a rush of adrenaline—never mind the fact there’s no one I could picture marrying!—but that feeling was immediately replaced by pure and utter terror followed on by enormous disorientation 😳 (This made the Kira Kosarin reality show wedding dream feel like a pleasant day at the beach in comparison!) I’m still feeling the aftershocks of the thought bouncing around in my head…

I thought about writing a fic based on it—because what is fanfic for if not unleashing your traumas upon unsuspecting others 😂—but there’s no way I could even come close to @avengerskye’s Gambling Hearts in terms of a Vegas wedding scenario (go read it, y’all; it’s awesome!), so…why give this particular bit of trauma any more air…
