Matsu reaction of being called cute by their s/o!

Aww, very cute! I hope these don’t seem too short, but I imagine they’d all have pretty straightforward responses.

Osomatsu

“Cute? Y’Think so? Don’t think I’ve had anyone call me that before, haha!”

Osomatsu would sheepishly rub the back of his head and blush, shrugging his shoulders. He’d probably be genuinely surprised about being called “cute”, as it’s not something he hears often or expects to hear. He’d be flattered though, and probably find ways to tease you about calling him cute later.

Karamatsu

“C-Cute?! .... Heh.. I suppose... I could also... Be cute... Yes...”

I feel like out of all of them, Karamatsu would probably feel a little insecure about being called “cute”, especially since he tries so hard to appear “manly” and “handsome”. He wouldn’t be upset with you though and would appreciate the sentiment for what it was, but there might be times where he’d try to fish a “sexy” or “manly” or “handsome” out of you instead. I imagine he doesn’t want to feel like his high school self too much again. 

Choromatsu

“I’m Wh- WHAT? Ah- I... W-Wasn’t expecting that... Sh-Shouldn’t I be saying that about you? ................ You really think I’m cute?”

At first Choromatsu would be a sputtering and stuttering mess, opening his mouth to talk but unable to find any words, too flustered to speak. Once he got over it though, he’d probably try to save face by acting like he should’ve said it instead but of course... After a long pause, he would quickly start fishing for more compliments from you. He secretly (or perhaps not so secretly) loves to be called cute or be given cute nicknames.

Ichimatsu

“...Wh-What? .... Mrmm... I’m the farthest thing from cute...”

Ichimatsu tries his best not to react at all, but it’s clear through his blushing, sweating, stammering, and shifty eyes that it clearly affected him. He’d probably try to brush it off and deny it at first, going on about how he “wasn’t cute”, things along those lines. But I imagine with enough compliments about him being cute, he’d eventually fold and just accept them... Even if they flustered him really badly. He would still try to act casually too, but he has a lot of little giveaways I listed above.

Jyushimatsu

“I AM? YOU’RE CUTE!”

He’d probably laugh and make that happy little face he does when he shuts his eyes and smiles, and give a simple but enthusiastic reply. He wouldn’t mind being called cute at all really, I don’t think any of the younger three would. He’d definitely make sure to call you cute right back too, to make it even. His reaction would actually be pretty normal.

Todomatsu

“Aww~! Thanks! So are you!”

Yeah, I don’t think Todomatsu would even bother denying it. He’d be flattered of course, but he’d probably praise the both of you for being cute. He’d act like it didn’t affect him much but once he got home or got a chance to be alone, he’d be absolutely ECSTATIC! He’d definitely try to keep it hidden from his brothers though, he doesn’t want to be dealing with their prying about his relationships.

At thr end of the day these "embarrassing" media are just... stuff... like this is a weird rebuttal to say "haha you like this thing"... and? Yeah. I enjoy things. How embarrassing

Yeah! It’s like... cringe is a silly concept in the first place. reminds me of like, when kids get to like, 13 years old and they want to show all their friends how “mature” they are and they go like “I don’t like that anymore, that’s for babies!” It’s such a big deal for them because they’re young and SO concerned about what other people think of them but like... as you get older you start to realize that literally no one cares what you like or not and people who do care... care because they’re probably immature and unable to mind their own business.

People can argue “oh that’s not what makes something cringe, cringe is when something has a bad fandom or is problematic!” which is like, definitely not the original meaning of the word but even if it is that... I’m not gonna give up something that brings me joy because other people don’t know how to act. Life’s already so hard, I don’t have to make it harder on myself.

It’s like, taking Osomatsu-san as an example... are there people in the fandom who make incest content? There are. I’m not one of them, though, and I do not approve of or circulate any of it. The show has some shitty aspects? Sure does, and I do not condone them and I point them out whenever they pop up because I think the animation industry can always strive to do better. And if someone’s argument is “People are just embarrassing about it lol” it’s like... man I’m almost 30 years old and also I have ADHD and NVLD, which means I grew up being called weird and reprimanded by literally everyone from the way I walked to the way I breathed. You couldn’t get me to care about what kinds of harmlessly “weird” things other people, especially teenagers and people in their early 20s are doing even if you paid me.
