would you call skye a mary sue?

Well, Skye is in a relationship with a main canon character, has a tragic backstory, is loudly LGBT+, and used to be a self insert, so I'd say that he is! And proudly so! I’m having fun, and a character being a “mary sue” doesn’t automatically mean they are a bad character.

Ash is clearly a top-tier mary sue anyways so Skye being one shouldn’t be too much of a problem cuz Ash could out-sue him any day of the week lol

Skye doesn't care about his birthday, thanks to a handful of family members misgendering him through cards or gifts- he's more interested in celebrating it as the day he got Pika. The both of them share a cake every year, almost as if he and Pika were sharing a birthday.

While not completely understanding why Skye doesn't like his birthday (he thinks that Skye should not let those cards & presents ruin it for him), Ash totally understands wanting to make the day he and Pika met special. He's the same guy who threw a party for Pikachu for the same damn reason, he gets it.
