Dream Journal - 8/21/2014
My dreams last night can be separated into two separate parts. The first part took place at Blizzard Beach, one of the water parks at Disney World. I was there with my roommate Khris, and it was almost empty, with barely any people around. This made it super easy for me to ride Summit Plummet, the tallest water slide in the park, several times without even having to wait. Khris didn’t seem interested, so he busied himself with some of the other slides in the park.
After a few trips up and down the mountain, I decided to go looking for Khris. I find him nearby at one of the smaller slides, next to a kiddy slide. Waiting for him to come down. I watch as an older gentleman puts his young child down the slide on a small inflatable tube. After sending him down, he attempts to stand on the surface of the slide and walk down. Naturally, he takes half a step and slips, falling on the slide and looking like he might have cracked a rib. He comes down the slide as I watch a man run past me towards him, presumably the son of the old man and the father of the young child.
As the old man lands in the pool, I notice that he’s somehow dragged down a piece of the lighting fixture from the top of the slide. As a matter of fact it’s an entire housing unit for a fluorescent tube light, including the cable that leads to the electrical box that sits on the wall where the wiring comes out, and the box itself as well! I pull that out of the pool and bring it to the snack stand, putting it on the counter while the girl behind it asks what happened. I explain what I’d seen, and add some sort of lame joke to the end of it. By then, Khris has shown up again, so we decide it’s time to leave.
That ends the first part of my dreams. The second half takes place at some sort convention hall at EPCOT that used to be part of some movie style attraction I think? There was a movie theater that I saw the exit to. The reason I know it was at EPCOT is because there was a sign at the exit of the movie theater that said something like “EPCOT Market” on it, with a smaller sign beneath it saying “we accept jade as currency” or something.
Walking further down the hall I see several other scenes, including a wedding taking place outside in a green field, and a high school prom with a “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” theme. I almost mistook it for a furry convention, since half the kids there were in animal costumes. One of the attending students standing in the hall had to explain it to me while she wore a reindeer suit. Thing is, it wasn’t like a nice fursuit or anything, it looked like a Disney character costume from the 70’s. Cheaply made with a ridiculously oversized head.
Wandering away from there, my next stop was some sort of graduation ceremony. As I wandered into that, I realized one of my best friends, Steven, was here and involved. He asked me to join him for his part of the class’s announcement ceremony, to which I said yes. So I was readied up, but I didn’t realize until it was actually starting that it involved skateboarding around and ON the base of what could have been a trophy, but it was just a large silver trophy base in the center of the room. It had slanted sides we had to jump on and ride our skateboards over a few times while set to music. The slanted sides were covered with small divots where a bunch of chrome plated versions of those finger-skateboards sat, engraved with names, one for every student.
Once Steven, his other friend and I finished the routine (which was short and a little odd, being just those jumps and riding on the big silver trophy base), we sat around the big base and watched as the ceremony officially began. Steven and I busied ourselves collecting the extra, unused chrome fingerboards that didn’t have names on them, left blank and without wheels. Meanwhile another student had stood to start talking and addressing the entire student body. I remember him saying something about being the class’s star Egyptian. I had a feeling at the time that he was the class’s ONLY Egyptian student. It was about that time I heard something going off, a phone alarm, and I reached for my phone nearby. But before I could grab it, I ended up waking up. The alarm was my phone in real life, waking me up for work today.
