Nebraska Football: Spring Football Preview
Nebraska Football: Spring Football Preview
On Monday, Nebraska started spring practice in its second year under head coach Scott Frost. Unseasonably frigid temperatures kept work inside as the squad opened preparation for the Spring Game on April 13.
This is now Nebraska’s second straight season without a bowl game, meaning a second long winter of waiting for Nebraska football. So spring practice should bring a welcome relief for…

Hank teaching Avery about memes and Connor not getting any of it.
Okay so Sunday mornings when Connor is at work on the early shift with Nines, Avery will climb into bed with Hank and snuggle up with him. It's been going on since she was 3, and there's nothing Hank loves more than his routine of Sunday cuddles with his little girl.
When she gets older and more curious, Hank starts telling her all about his life as a kid and what it was like as technology began advancing, and that brings him to the wonderful world of memes. Hank would have been in his late 20s when it came to vine so he wasn't around it quite as much as Gavin, but he knows the classics. He shows her compilations on his phone, and Avery is fascinated by them. She spends hours watching these 7 second videos, laughing when Hank repeats them in perfect sync, and Hank is so proud when she too begins memorising them off by heart.
And Avery assumes Connor understands memes too, so she just says them around him without batting an eyelid. They're in the car the three of them and Hank sees a sign and says "Road works ahead?", and Avery with a wide smile just shouts back "uh yeah, I sure hope it does!" and poor Connor is left to wonder why they're laughing so hard.
Avery plays dressups with Hank and Connor. Including lipstick, heels and blusher all applied by a 5 year old.
Hank would probably avoid as much as he can for the sake of his own masculinity, but you know Connor is prepared to let Avery do whatever she wants, and he even gets carried away with the fantasy.
He takes Avery out one weekend to buy some makeup and clothes, let's her pick everything, and then they return home for a "girls night" of bad movies, face masks and makeovers.
Hank walks in on the pair, Connor with his hair pushed back, lipstick caked on thick and eyeliner wonky, and he's already wearing the sequin dress as they sit in the floor. Avery is holding his face still, smiling, and Connor seems happy too.
The most Hank allows is mascara and lipstick. But Connor will do the whole nine yards-- and feel fabulous afterwards.
Okay, i think it would be cute if at Avery's new school she makes a friend who she kinda likes. She asks her dad's if they can come over. Of course they say yes and the little boy is dropped off at their house. Everything is fine until Connor hears a crash in their room and assumes the boy is taking advantage of her. He races in only to see that Avery's friend was dressing up like a Disney princess. And Avery begs Connor not to tell her friends mom or he'll be in a lot of trouble again.
Avery is the type to happily give her dress away because her new friend loves it so much (and she's never been much of a Cinderella fan anyway, it's just something one of the guys at the DPD gifted Hank when it was her birthday), but obviously he can't have it so she asks Hank if he can come over every Friday for dress up and of course he says yes - after Connor told him about the situation, he all but wants to adopt the little kid.
And Hank's like 8 months along at the time so he's pretty emotional too and he's cried on Connor a few times because Avery is such a wonderful kid who's so kind and he's so proud of her, and Connor just holds him close, agreeing to buying more dress up clothes so Avery can give him more options when he comes over.
headcanon though - Avery comes home from school one day crying angrily because someone said "daddies don't have babies" and called her a liar (she was talking about how she's going to be the best big sister ever) and that's when Hank has the talk with her, haphazardly explaining what being transgender means and how he may be able to have a baby but most daddies can't
The next day he gets a call from her teacher saying she punched someone and when he comes in to find out what happened she's smiling with no shame and tells him they made fun of Hank after she explained what he said and the teacher even makes a sly snarky comment about how Avery shouldn't be talking about things "like that" in school so Hank promptly pulls her from the school and starts looking to enroll her elsewhere.
"Hank, we need to punish her somehow though, she can't be allowed to think punching people is okay-"
"Listen Connor, when she punches someone who doesn't deserve it, I'll punish her, but right now I support her violence."
