Giada didn't actually mind Valentine's Day or carnivals for that matter. In fact, she found the commercialism of it all rather amusing —  smart even. Getting poor saps to drain their wallets at silly little carnival games like the one she was stationed to work... all the name of love... it sounded pretty genius to her. Therefore Giada actually had a knowing smile on her painted lips as she approached her partner at the Wheel of Love.

"Hello there, honey." She greeted Avery with a subtle determination that had been absent from her since her Gala disaster. "Ready to milk every poor sucker here for all their worth?"

Tae-Oh liked to think of himself as a jack of all trades, master of none. But one thing he wasn’t good at was apologizing. His past hadn’t exactly taught him about forgiveness. He knew he’d messed up by ending things with Avery without an explanation, but he couldn’t exactly tell her, “Hey, I’m being hunted and, by the way, I’m a hitman.” Now, standing at her door with a bouquet in hand, he felt out of his element. He took a deep breath before knocking. When she opened the door, he flashed an apologetic smile. “Hey,” he said, his voice light and playful, trying to ease the tension.

“Please tell me you know how to handle a heart attack,” Francesca pleaded, half-joking but with a hint of genuine fear creeping into her voice. The character actor in the terrifying mask loomed behind her, his sinister grin only adding to her growing anxiety. “I know it’s all part of the act, but I am so close to a full-on panic right now.” She couldn’t shake the memories of her past experiences—reporting live during a riot, interviewing notorious criminals—but somehow, the sight of this masked man stalking her felt far more unsettling. “Don’t leave me alone, please,” she begged, gripping Avery’s arm tightly as if it were a lifeline. The masked figure waved at her, his exaggerated movements only fueling her sense of dread. “Am I being overdramatic?” Francesca asked, glancing up at Avery, hoping for reassurance as her heart raced in her chest. The vibrant colors of the Halloween decorations felt distant and uninviting in that moment, overshadowed by the palpable tension in the air.

Jason was on his way back from Dilan's, opting for the subway instead of the car she had offered to get him. It didn't make sense when he could just hop on the 6. Not that he would have taken her up on it anyway. He was just about to head down the stairs when he spotted a familiar face he hadn't seen in awhile and nodded at her. "Yo Ave," Jason said. Laying low had kept him mostly out of trouble and his limbs more intact than usual. "Didn't see ya last night. You go to that warehouse party thing?"

The club lights had long since disappeared, exchanging the chaos from the evening for the eerie stillness of those early morning hours. Jason on his way back from a job, a night that went sideways after too much liquor and a voicemail from an apparently dead man. His knuckles were battered and bruised, still speckled with dried blood after having to put a couple of assholes in their place.

Hood drawn, Jason eyed the familiar doorstep and knocked. Minutes passed and his scowl deepened, ignoring the throbbing in his knuckles. He knocked again, then a third and fourth time. The fact still remained that Jason had never been patient and sure as hell have never the ideal patient either.
