I have had the great pleasure in serving as the project manager of the first AVF Award vertical farming design competition. It was designed to stimulate ideas from around the globe and help the best and brightest success with their visions. I am excited to join the AVF, Illumitex, Thought for Food, and Globumbus in announcing this year’s AVFaward 2016 winning teams! 

Three Teams Win Global Vertical Farming Design Award

In January,The Association for Vertical Farming partnered with Illumitex to launch a global competition for the best and brightest vertical farming concepts. What resulted was 100+ entries from 24 countries and some of the most creative ideas vertical farming has ever seen.

There were 28 finalist teams who submitted their concepts and videos to win audience support. Of those, only 3 were chosen to win the top prizes. Watch the video and show your support with a reaction! 

1st place - Innovation Award from Illumitex: $5,000 and a trip for one to the AVF summit on June 13th in Amsterdam - Winners: Team Inter-Farm_Market! (Kim Zhao Wei, Lai Chuen Ket, Chong Shen Loong, Chai Yi Xue)

2nd place - Changemaker Award from Thought for Food $3,000 - Winners: Tam "VeGaN! (Pietro Della Sala, Santiago Botia, Jose Manuel Patino, Susana Prieto, Gil Schramm)

3rd place - Explorer Award from Globumbus: $1,500 - Winners TeamImpackt Farm! (Pepe Lacruz, Sofya Abramchuk, Alexandra Blankenstein, Tsering Kenji Sherpa)

The 1st place winning team will meet the sponsors at the AVF summit on June 13th in Amsterdam, the biggest vertical farming experts gathering of the year, to present their concept and gain valuable knowledge and networking relationships. Tickets are still available for the AVF summit here.
