Let's pretend there is a Gen4 and that it's James Fitch and his friends. What do you think his friends are like? What's James role in the group dynamics? One of the friends is, of course, Gordon McPherson.

James Fitch is the quirky one that causes trouble I would imagine. There would be a more serious minded type. The more popular type. I would love for them to explore the cross dressing with James that would be awesome. I also thing there would Poppy and Maude there as well. Maybe even Paddy who would be a bit like a more innocent version of Cook.

A Michelle/Jal comment: I think one of the reasons she was close to Jal was because they both had an absent parent. I like that her biological dad is never brought up. I like to think that her and Jal both decided: they're not here, they don't wanna be here, don't need 'em, I've grown up fine without them

It is true they did have an absentee parent. Which would definitely be something they could understand one another. 

I actually really enjoy that Jal and Michelle both don't seem fully hung up on this fact. It is obviously apart of them and of course it effects them. However to me they weren't chasing ghosts. 

I do like that. Jal and Michelle is a good friendship. Despite the normal teenage issues.

I wish there was a Skins novel for Gen 1. If one is ever written, I like the idea that it'd be based around Maxxie and Anwar, sorta a Rosencrantz and Guildenstern thing for it. There were a few moments like that on Skins (1.4 party scene, 2.2 party scene) where they witness & comment on the others' actions.

A novel for generation 1 would have been amazing. That idea would have been hilarious and would have fleshed their characters out a bit more. 

I also wish we could have seen more from post-accident Tony. In terms of Michelle and Tony as well. That would have been good too. 

I agree though a novel could have been good to explain some of the character psychology during the show. Plus Maxxie and Anwar giving their insights.

I have a British culture question (I'm American):Is it not uncommon for teens to not go to uni in the UK and turn out alright? In the US you're shamed a bit if you don't go. You're taught that you won't get anywhere in life without a degree.

This is my understanding of the school system in the UK and after talking to people who have lived in the UK. It is quite common for people not to go to University compared to the United States. If you are part of a rich family then yes you will be shamed. But the majority it is not uncommon not to continue on. 

So yeah it is a bit different than here. :)

Do you happen to know what April Pearson has been up to? I can't find much on her.

I have no idea what she's doing to be honest. She hasn't done many projects. I am not sure if she's in school or not either.

Ever realize it was never explained what happened with Michelle's dad? All the other single parents got a passing mention, however brief, of their former partners I think. No mention of Michelle's father ever. There's something refreshing about that. Nothing healthy about Mrs. Richardsons multiple marriages but Michelle's homelife otherwise was pretty good. I really hope you do UK vs UK comparison. I like what they did with US Michelle.

Many of the other characters Dad's left. When they were young or their parents would say things like "i can't fuck off like your Dad did." Or like Mini's mom pushing her embittered feelings onto her daughter about men. 

Michelle I always figured she never knew her Dad and her Mom was loving. Never held her absent father over her. Her multiple marriages are due to her fickle nature and her belief in true love. The other single parents for the longest time did not display that optimism for true love. That and they weren't as present with their kids either.

Ever noticed Michelle and Tony were frequently similarly dress? S1Ep1 - striped shirts; S2E4 - red tops; S2 Cassie's Ep -green jackets I think. Thats all I can recall (or maybe that was it, heh). In S2 Tony's ep it was actually Tony and Cassie who were both wearing stripes.

I did notice how similar they dressed in Series 1 and then in Series 2 they didn't do it as much if at all if I am remembering correctly. It is interesting though.

What are some of your favorite exchanges between two (or more) characters? One of mine is during Katie's ep in Series4, I can't remember the lines but Effy offers Katie a cigarette, Katie declines, Effy says something like 'what are you afraid of?' and Katie calls her a cliche - which is appropriate, who the hell says 'what are you afraid of' when it comes to cigarettes?! Sounds like a line from 'a very special episode' of a cheesy sitcom. I hate that line.

I liked Katie's reply "CANCER!!" That one is good. 

I like anything with Rich and Alo to be honest love their banter. I love Cook and Naomi on the hill as well amazing exchange. Sid and Tony fighting in the parking lot in Effy's episode is another good one. Rich confronting Mini and Alo when he found then in Blood's house that was hilarious. Rich and Grace's exchange when Rich was explaining Nick's joke.
