An avocado shortage in New Zealand has led some enterprising thieves to steal avocados from farms. In New Zealand, avocados currently retail for $2.80 to $4.20, due to a poor crop last season and a skyrocketing demand. Criminals have turned to stealing and selling the fruit — but eating illegal avocados could be very dangerous for consumers.
