Of all the times. Of all the times. He had meant to make this a quick pit-stop. Something to be done in the middle of the night and then set away again before the young child woke up. Unfortunately, Linebeck’s luck didn’t seem to be with him. Staring at a blond, scraggy-haired kid who was rubbing his eyes and insisting he would be following Linebeck.

          “No. No you ain’t.”

His old home was not something he needed to be ribbed about. His parents (if they were still both alive,) did not need to know he was around, and he didn’t want anything to be figured out about his past. He was just an asshole. That was good. He liked being an asshole.

         “Bed. Now. ‘m just double checkin’ the engine          and picking up a few supplies. Can’t run’er all          night. She gets tired too.”

But … once the time was over, he was leaving. Quick as he could.
