In all her years as a mentor, there has never been an avox bold enough to touch her. She has never given them reason to fear her, but there must be fear in them already. And who could blame them? Voiceless, will overtaken by the Capitol’s rulings, every motion and every mistake a thing to be watched or punished. One wrong step and who knew what might come next? And surely there were other Victors, Career Victors, who might have seen this as an insult, might have turned the girl in to the Capitol without thought or consequence.
Maysie does not.
She is rougher ‘round the edges now, scar-hardened by the Arena and the years upon years of watching Tributes die, of being unable to help or save them. But her heart is just as soft at its core as it had always been, there is no true viciousness in her (only what she needs to call upon, sometimes, to survive). Blue eyes turn to the girl, gaze steady but not harsh. Surely there must be something important that needs pointing out, some reason for the girl to approach her without having been asked, to reach out despite possible consequences.
“What is it?”

Send ϡ for a MENTAL STATE headcanon.
At the age of eight she watched her brother die on live television, her strong older brother who had carried her on his shoulders and taught her to use a knife. She watched a Tribute gore him right through the stomach, watched him turn inside out. And when it was all over there was no one there to comfort her - her mother and her father turned colder and colder, stony and proud and silent. They threw themselves into work and made themselves indispensable to the Capitol.
It was like she was invisible, so she turned inside-out, too. But in a different way.
Every emotion was turned back, pressed inward. Every feeling was suppressed and turned to ice. It made her rational and it made her smart and it made her cold. It made her icy, angry, aloof and unapproachable.
She spent her days designing anything her mind could conjure, furniture and shoes and clothing. It was methodical, soothing, an escape. An obsession.
Livia is a lot more fragile than she’d like anyone to believe, a lot more damaged. She is loyal to the Capitol because she depends on it, loyal to the Capitol because it held out its arms to her and took her in when no one else would. Her only solid attachment is with the place that changed her life for the better, the place that brought some scrap of her parents back to her. The place that made her better and brighter than she had been in Two.
She’s cold and narrow-minded and methodical (except when it comes to design, when her mind opens to so many beautiful, glittering possibilities). She is harsh and critical and merciless. (She’s scared and she’s sad and she’s lonely, too, but those are Not Allowed, those are buried deep, those get turned into method and reason and cold hard facts with a few good twists and turns).

(☞゚ヮ゚)☞ ☜(゚ヮ゚☜):who is someone you can tell everything to?
Wow that’s a hard one. I would have to say any of my close friends, I’m not much of a ‘get deep’ kind of person, so I rarely need to go to someone. But my friend Justin is my go to person for any sort of thing like that, his thought process works like mine so it’s easy to tell him really anything.

✘ Any unpopular opinions about your muse?
I don’t t h i n k so?
I’m not sure whether or not this is unpopular, but I interpret Cress as being a panromantic demisexual, meaning she experiences attraction regardless of gender, but she also requires a deeper emotional connection before experiencing sexual attraction towards someone.

✎ What do you wish the author would reveal/had revealed about your muse?
Everything, but I would’ve sufficed with just knowing more about her personality than ‘lol she’s crazy & Finnick’s wife’. I wanted to see who she was past her husband & past the title, to see her true personality, to learn more about how she may struggle to get up in the morning but does so because she has obligations, to see not just how Finnick took care of her but how she took care of him, her relationship with Mags. The worst part about looking at Annie’s character from a first person perspective is that you have no clue if what Katniss is telling you is the truth or just her own opinion about her. What Katniss may think of her is not what Annie may actually be like. It certainly makes it difficult to headcanon her when things are so up in the air with her.
