Starting to realize that being a sentimental fool and including Sarii the very good dog in the avp fic might've been a mistake. Naru and the gang need to climb down an elevator shaft but oh no, what about Sarii the very good dog, who happens to be lacking in the opposable thumbs required to climb a rope? The gang is sneaking around with invisibility cloaks, except for the very good dog who's running circles around them fully visible. Time to go into space on a spaceship! Where is Sarii the very good dog doing his business during this time, as even the best of dogs have yet to figure out how bathrooms work? Don't worry about it. Seriously don't, I haven't figured out an answer yet.

Funny thing when writing from the pov of a bunch of characters from different time periods is that the trickiest aren't those furthest removed from the present; when writing Ursa the viking warrior I won’t stop to wonder if she knows what a car is, I'll just have her refer to a horse instead. Torres, however, is almost modern. He knows what electricity and lightbulbs are. He can drive a car.

So whenever I write him after having struggled through the viking or the samurai where every reference is a chore, I relax a bit too much and catch myself halfway through a sentence wondering hold on, would he know that? Was that a thing yet? So far I've had to stop to google when fire extinguishers were invented (first one was in the 1700s and it had gunpowder in it) and when tv sets started to become common, both of them for throwaway lines. Just now I nearly made him refer to a t-shirt cannon. I don’t think they had those in the forties.
