it is actually so important to me that diane isn't a bad person and aaron doesn't treat her as such. he knows and understands that the circumstances are what shaped their relationship more than anything, and that the trauma they both endured and the methods they used to cope with it are ultimately what made it impossible to reconcile... something something even people who are good for each other at one point won't always be good for each other in the long run
