Question for the mods: Does reading some of the asks, like the asks that don't get posted, ever negatively impact the way you feel?
I can't say I am often impacted by the kinds of things we must delete. Most of the time they're only worded wrong or too aggressive. I am very lucky to say that most of our audience is well-behaved and well-meaning, and those who are rejected for standoffish nature or what-have-you either shape up or do not return. The worst of it really is just an eyeroll or a headshake, I am happy to say.
However, this is the only ask I have been pushed to answer on a personal, biased level. I look back to it now as a cautionary tale and it felt relevant enough to share with you. When you're too deep into something you forget the reality of it. This anon was, supposedly, very passionate about their fandom space, and with my inclusion, my theory is that I threatened to change it simply by existing. I choose to believe they acted out of character for themselves because they were given anonymity and had very high emotions at the time, but it's still an excellent example of how too much of one thing can truly remove you from the world you inhabit. A healthy media diet will not only entertain you with many flavors, but it will keep you safe from the worst version of yourself.
