W00tcamp is over. It's been a blast! Together with @mrtnkl and @jtaal we created the awesome new website Award'm. The idea is simple: just send someone an award. Because he brought you coffee, or cooked you dinner. Or award someone the "didn't get me any coffee" award, as a friendly reminder :)
For those of you that don't know w00tcamp: it's 2 days of programming at Q42 (my employer), a friday and a saturday. During these two days we try to create a product that is ready to be put online. The concept must be sound: doable in 2 days, and cool enough to get your colleagues to help you out.
Of course there's some rough edged to be taken care of (how do we counter spam bots from accessing the e-mail addresses on the site?), but all in all we did good work.
The best thing about this w00tcamp is that I was sincerely impressed by the work that me and my colleagues accomplished. Lastify, which imports your last.fm recommendations into spotify, is truly useful. GetMeHome, which tells you how to get home from the pub, is going to be installed on my phone as soon as it launches. Quest42 is a sarien-based game where you can walk around at Q42 headquarters, magnificently done. And these are just the tip of the iceberg.
As for this new tumbl account, I was impressed by the ease and possibilities with which we created the w00tcamp blog. Exactly what I needed, instead of some home-made website with custom-build links to twitter and picasa.
I can't wait for the next w00tcamp. It has proven useful, motivating and most importantly, fun!
