Been listening to this song today and can’t get it out of my head! It is giving me all the feels.

The entire song obviously makes me think of all the Guardians and especially Peter & Yondu but there’s one or two lines that specifically make me think of Rocket:

All the times that I cried,

keeping all the things I knew inside,

It’s hard but it’s harder to ignore it.

If they were right, I’d agree but

It’s them they know not me.

Because Rocket represses his emotions, because from the moment he was born he’s had “them” the scientists torture him and make him into something he’s not. If the scientists were right in making him then so be it but they weren’t, they never “gave a rats ass about [him]” they never knew him and at the end of this movie Rocket is just beginning to know and examine himself for who he is. Yondu was the catalyst for this, calling him out and forcing him to confront the truth. It’s safe for him to really begin to come to terms w what he is because now he knows his family has his back and won’t leave him.
