New bag pattern I tried out, and I am totally in love with it! This bag is beautiful and sturdy, and it comes with a matching laptop bag and storage pouch!! I'm hoping the person receiving it as a gift loves it as much as I do.

The strap is adjustable via three sets of buttons.

I'm finally in my own place and ready to record videos for you guys again!! This is just a quick one before I head to work, but it needed to be done. One of my students is learning this song and it has been stuck in my head for weeks.

As per auditions, when I auditioned for grad school I had to prepare 6 songs (as a vocalist), but I only got to sing one of them. Be prepared to sing any of them, but auditioners generally only want to hear one, maybe two songs. They have a lot of people to get through real quick. You need to make a big impression in a short amount of time.

I think grad school requirements are more demanding than undergrad (thats what I was referring to). But regardless of what needs to be prepared, the actual audition still isnt that long, ja feel (:

So Legally Blonde: The Musical is one of my absolute favourite musicals of all time. And the title song never fails to give me goosebumps, I think it's the ultimate showtune ballad. So of course I had to sing it!

Under Construction!

Just so people know, if you navigate to my blog right now you'll be greeted with a mainly blank page! I'm trying to make my own custom theme and it's very much under construction. Unfortunately Tumblr's customization page doesn't like to load previews for me, so I end up saving a lot and checking out the actual page to see if things work. I'll let y'all know when it's back up and running :)

Extra video this week! I decided to work up the courage to try this song again after having attempted it in the past. This time it worked out so much better, thanks in large part to using a much better microphone that can handle higher notes. You can see me leaning away from the mic during the really high parts, though, because they are still loud and I didn't want to get that terrible crackle OR deafen anyone. It's such a relief to sing something that's comfortably in my range!

Side note: I'm wearing headphones (obviously) and I will probably be wearing them in future videos as well. To fully rectify the syncing problem with audio/video I had to record the video and audio in separate programs and then manually put them together. It's a pain, but oh man does it look so much better! Also it sounds better because I was able to layer my voice over a backing track instead of just singing over it and hoping the mic would pick it up.

So I recorded Let It Go on a whim today. Note that I have never seen the movie, nor do I think I've listened to Idina sing it more than once or twice. However, I'm working on it with one of my students and it really is a fun song to sing.

(There are a couple of note tweaks at the beginning. I'm a soprano, dammit, I can't hit low F's!)
