Man, last night in Albany NY was an experience for sure! It definitely wasn’t one of our cleanest shows…(actually I’m pretty sure everything that could go wrong, went wrong lol!), yet When I look back on it, I do so with a smile.
As soon as the lights came up I reached in my pocket and I realized my guitar capo was missing, I panicked because most of my songs are unplayable without one. You can imagine how relieved I was when found that one was just sitting there on stage waiting for Sawyer! I quickly grabbed it and slapped it on only to find that my guitar (that I had carefully tuned just moments before the show) was completely flat. Actually both of them were! Unfortunately that was just the beginning… Song after song no mater what I did my guitars would just not stay in tune that night.
But in those awkward moments when I was struggling to get my guitars strings tuned straight (between nearly every song,🙄) there was this thing that happened.
I was caught by the audience.
Right when it felt like the tomatoes where about to start fly. I looked up to a perfectly pleased and patient audience beaming nothing but pure love at us. It was an incredible sensation feeling so naked and imperfect on stage, but somehow still being so warmly accepted and loved anyway.
So in the end, I’m strangely I’m grateful for that experience of feeling so vulnerable in front of a sold out show inside of the state capitol of New York. It instilled a sense of trust and togetherness in the room that was everything we as a band dream of creating together.
It’s just a good reminder that we are all human, and no matter who you are, or how much you prepare things sometimes go differently then you plan.
But that’s ok,
because at the end of the day we are on the same team
The human being team.
Thank you for being there for me Albany. I won’t forget it…
