My friend is infuriating sometimes.
Me: It's not just that I don't like him. We're too young and he's an atheist, he swears a lot.. And I have no idea how to tell him I changed my mind without it being really awkward

Me: You don't get it. You just.. Christians. We want to live our lives for God. Christians marry other Christians who love God as much and they help each other with their faith. They should help each other be faithful and not stray from God. There's a lot more to being a Christian than a lot of people assume. Christianity isn't a religion. It's our relationship with God. There are too many things I can't talk to you about because you just don't understand.

Me: You don't freaking get it. It's not "I don't like you because you're different". It's that I want to go with someone who loves God. And don't you dare tell me I'm not a "real Christian". Don't you dare. You. Can't. Do. That. You can't tell me that--just because my parents don't drive me to church doesn't make me any less Christian. "Religion doesn't matter". Yes it does matter. A major part of my identity is Christian and I wouldn't have it any other way. I can believe what I want, so can you, and so can he. That doesn't mean we can't be friends. It just means I don't want to date someone who doesn't want to dedicate his life to God and help me do the same.

Me: 1) Where in the Bible does it even say that anyway? A ton of people say that but don't provide the verse. I think I remember one? But if I recall correctly it just said a man cannot lay with a man, but it never said it's wrong to support someone who does (Love the sinner, hate the sin) and Jesus literally said nothing about homosexuality being wrong. Nothing.
2) What holidays?? Where does it say you have to celebrate certain holidays? (And if I've never heard of them that's not really my fault; just others' for never teaching me.)
Me: Yes I know there are a ton of things I need to work on, like reading my Bible regularly, but just because I'm not a perfect Christian doesn't mean I'm not a "real Christian". By that logic, no one is.
