Notes: First off, everyone probably knows this song. For those who don’t, this is — in my opinion — the most depressingly beautiful song I have ever stumbled upon. This is the last song in Lorde’s multi-platinum coming-of-age album: Pure Heroine. All of the songs belonging to that album are spectacular, but this last one is in a league of its own. I remember I listened to this song on repeat whilst visiting my friend in NYC, and I felt such a bone-deep heartache for something intangible that I really didn’t know what to do with myself. I was in a different state, in an unfamiliar environment, and this song made it so much worse… but also so much better. The lyrics are something I can relate to right now, which I appreciate in order to have a more immersive experience, but sometimes I wish I didn’t relate to them. You’ll just have to see for yourself. This may be my all-time favorite song.
