Anime Year in Review (2014)
With Anime Expo 2014 tomorrow, it's time for my annual Anime in Review! Here is a list of all the series/seasons that I watched since AX 2013.
10) Gunslinger Girl - Young girls as assassins series. This series kinda depressed me (and not in the good way) and I had to force myself to make it through. One of the only series I saw that I didn't really care for.
9) Ro-Kyu-Bu S2 - Loli basketball with a medium amount of fanservice. The expanded cast was a nice touch and the basketball scenes were exciting.
8) Tari Tari - Musical coming-of-age story. A good series with one of the girls having a really good character arc. Definitely some feels there.
7) Tiger and Bunny - Superheroes fighting in a slightly futuristic city. This one was out of my usual genres, but the art and character design were great. The fighting was cool and the story actually had more depth to it than I expected.
6) The World God Only Knows - Boy who only likes 2D is forced to earn the love of various girls with the help of a cute demon. I'm not that excited about harem series, but this one was too funny and the final episode was great. Kinda hard to feel for that many girls within 12 eps though.
5) Ika Musume S2 - The second season of everyone's favorite squid invader from the sea. Very funny throughout and Ika Musume is just too cute of a main character. The supporting cast is also really good. The Mini Ika eps were maxed out on HNNNNNG, as well. Want more.
4) Yuru Yuri - Slice of life comedy about a group of girls and the various relations between them. Good characterization and what I thought was going to be more "cute girls doing cute things" turned into the funniest series I saw this year. Definitely want more!
3) Oreimo S2 - The second season of romantic comedy, "My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute." This time around was more haremy and more incesty. A show about otaku is also nice to watch in a self-backpatting way. This series probably gave me more feels than any this year. And Kuroneko is top-tier waifu material.
2) Shingeki no Kyojin - The phenomenom known as "Attack on Titan." The last remnants of humanity attempt to fight off giant creatures who want only to devour them. Crisp animation, exciting scenes and new premise. A full review by me is available here.
1) Kill la Kill - An action/comedy series by fledgling studio TRIGGER. Another megahit show that I had high hopes for. I was not disappointed and in the tradition of shows like Gurren Laggan, a story that keeps growing bigger and surprising every few eps. The animation is very fluid and alive. The characters are all designed and voiced so well, too. The way that music is incorporated into the scenes also adds to the epicness. Definitely a series not too be missed!
Ah, I was watching some AX cosplay vids to pump me up for this year, and I found myself in one! I didn't think they'd actually use me. Wow! Watch the whole video and enjoy all the amazing cosplayers. I'm near the end, the Sheik cosplay in the tree.
I hope everyone's as excited as me!
Throwback Thursday to last year's Anime Expo 2013, at 0:56, you can see me use the 3DMG as Hanji, I'm on the far right in that sequence!
Oh gosh. So I just went through all of the people who have reblogged that post of me with the Jontron monitor and not so grump shirt. (as of 119 notes) I'm so glad you all thought it was cool/cute/awesome! I didn't know that object head kinda thing was so popular or wanted to be done.
But please, go check out my friend's blogs because one, InfectiousCodex, owns the monitor and made it a dry erase board so that it could be drawn on and two, dellconahger, drew the image on the board. They are awesome people and great friends! Thank you all again!
