Why do we run? Easy: the fjålls.
The endless ridge is your reward for the climb. Breaking the treeline you see the world below you. In front of you is a rich tapestry of greens that draw you forward. Keen to explore, experience the nature around and feel the freedom of the run.
Torn by which direction to take, where to run, how far to go. Each fjäll summit offers its own take on this beautiful country, each one more remarkable than the last. Fortunately we’re not in any hurry, the cabins on each summit welcome us with some warmth and there are plenty of planks to run over to the next summit. Best of all there are waffles and coffee on our return each day.
Friluftsliv at its freshest here in Sweden’s Jämtland for AXA Fjällmaraton.
Legs tired, shoes dirty and energy depleted, the joys, stories and pain of running on the fjälls at the AXA Halvmaraton and Oppetfjäll are recounted at Trillevallen. Over fika or a beer the runners bask in the satisfied feeling of tiredness that only comes from pushing your body.
The best week of running of the year has officially started.
How are you celebrating the arrival of August? We’re running on the Fjälls of Sweden. Not quite Bydalsfjällen a good 3 week early replacement.
All set for August.
International entries still open for what was definitely 2014's standout race.
