Yesterday in DnD, DM’d by the wonderful @hatepig, we met some fantastically adorable little axalotl-like people with the approximate intelligence of a bag of rocks (we saw two of them trying to eat the same rock at the same time) - but they were sweet and chubby and soft and absolutely harmless!

Until it turned out they were neotenous Kobolds, and my Dragonborn’s Draconic influence- like lowering water to salamander spawn, was causing them to rapidly undergo magical maturation into actual Kobolds, who are now loyal to her.

Even the babies started changing.

Yût and Akka were two notable ones we met- Akka for being oddly large, Yût for being able to say simple sentences. After a mere two days? Akka’s one of the few Kobolds without a negative modifier to Strength, and Yût is growimg smarter still and transforming into an Urd.

This will all likely end in tears.

we do have some axolotls at highline, I don’t work with the aquatic animals but I do take passive pictures occasionally! If anything looks concerning or off, please tell me but also consider that;

1. I’m just a nerdy volunteer that gives little shows and talks about geckos and snakes mostly 2. I don’t know animal husbandry for axolotls/Mexican salamanders 3. all reptiles here at my college are rescues, and that none of these are actually 100% under my care.
